DEGIRO, a Dutch discount broker was initiated in 2008 and in 2013 it launched its online broker in the Netherlands. It is privately owned and regulated with top-tier financial authorities, namely Bundesanstalt für Finanzdienstleistungsaufsicht (BaFin) and the Dutch Central Bank (DNB) as well as registered with FCA. It is also registered with the Chamber of Commerce and industry in Amsterdam. Investment Offers

DEGIRO offers its customers a broad range of investments which include stocks, funds, bonds and gilts, options, ETFs and futures. The basic account shares pretty much the same features with custody account but unlike custody, basic users are unable to short stocks or buy on margin. Active account has a combination of all the features of custody and basic account but with an additional feature of buying on up to 50% of user’s available margin and the ability to go short. The trader and day trader accounts have all of these features too, but in these two users can buy up to 100% of their available margin. Other than the custody account, all accounts allow free dividend and coupon processing. An option of retirement account can also be seen over their website. Through this account, investors can invest for their supplementary pension in stocks, investment funds, bonds or ETFs (trackers) of their choice.

Deposit Options

This firm allows various deposits options such as the bank transfer, SOFORT banking and Trustly, which varies across different countries. Moreover, DEGIRO allows trade in 9 base currencies which include CHF, DKK, GBP, CZK, NOK, SEK, EUR, PLN and HUF. In the UK, only bank transfers are allowed at the moment. Bank transfers can take up to 2-3 business days whereas Trustly allow an immediate transaction which takes up to 30 minutes only. Bank transfers usually follow strict rules, it only permits transfers from bank accounts in your name from the accepted countries.
